Atlanta Sweeps Philly Nationals Lose To D-Backs

Around The League

The Phillies are really showing they are the team to "Beat"as they have now lost the first 3 games of the season to the Atlanta Braves. Tonight The Braves beat the Phillies by a final score of 8 to 4.

Adam Eaton made his first start for The Phillies after getting ridiculous amount of money in the off season from The Phillies. Adam Eaton looked horrible giving up 7 ER in just 4 and 2/3 innings. (Thats an ERA of 13.50)

Young Chuck James took the mound for The Braves and was much better then Eaton though only pitched 5 innings giving up 6 Hits but only 1 ER while striking out 5.

Amazingly in this game The Phillies bullpen didn't allow a run, while The Braves bullpen gave up 3 runs.

Kelly Johnson got his first hit of the season which was a homerun off Eaton in the 5th inning.

Brian McCann had 2 more RBI's today giving him a total of 6 on the season.

The Nationals after winning their first game of the season yesterday could not keep it going as they lost to The Diamond Backs in a close one 4 to 3.

The Nationals just can't get any good starts from any of these starters.. Todays starter

Jason Bergmann only lasted 3 and 2/3 innings as he couldn't find the strike zone today giving up 4 ER while walking 6 batters.

Dimitri Young after his walk off hit last night was 2 for 4 with a homerun and an RBI.

for the Diamond Backs

Orlando Hudson was 2 for 4 with his first homerun of the season.

~The Mets had the day off as they travel to Atlanta for three games. Oliver Perez will face Mark Redman in the first game of the series, and Lastings Milledge will be expected to make the start in right field.

~Adam Eaton was one of the worst contracts ever, I don't see why the Phillies would give such a big contract to a guy who is never healthy and when healthy isn't really that good. The Phillies should of took that money and invested it in some bullpen which is what they need right now.

The Nationals are in for a VERY VERY bad season, as they don't have any starting pitching I think their combined starters win total from 2006 is 1. You don't understand how bad this team is, and it will take some time before they are competitive again. The sad part is they have a decent bullpen with Rauch and Cordero but those guys will probably be traded mid-season for some prospects something The Nationals are lacking.
